ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Most comprehensively, he’s turned frustration and, at times, failure into successful operational startups in developing markets. The first was an English-language magazine (Warsaw Insider) for the expatriate community in and business travelers to Poland. This venture leveraged both his insider understanding of his readers as an expat himself and his knowledge gained as a business journalist of the advertising clientele’s needs. In 2001, after finishing his own MBA, Stefan launched a consultancy (2Bschool) helping applicants to business and other grad school programs gain acceptance, find a great fit, and ensure a high ROI in one of the both riskiest and most important career decisions a person can make. The coaching and consulting hybrid he developed, he adapted (Toolbox Coaching + Consulting) to help new entrepreneurs in foreign markets grow their businesses. Along with coaching, Stefan enjoys the challenge of teaching and training both eager and reluctant individuals. As a writing professor, he has taught powerful communication techniques to journalists, teachers, translators and other communications professionals. As a sailing instructor in his hometown Annapolis, MD, he taught newbies (some afraid of the water) the basics to navigation, usually in a single weekend.
Stefan knows business—and through the whole life cycle: He joined his first start up two weeks after graduating high school through into its merger. As a licensed real estate agent for his region’s largest (and the US’s largest private) Realtor, he saw the power of processes, procedures and planning. He covered many industries as a journalist for a chain of business weeklies, which taught him the power of listening and asking the right questions. He believes the right questions are what make a good coach, and the right answers make a good consultant, while the right experience makes a good mentor. Stefan brings together all three.
