Monday Morning Speaker:  Lloyd Raines

An Integral Approach to Understand Ourselves in the Marketplace and in the World

Speaker Website:  www.integral-focus.com

Integral leadership development cultivates the personal, behavioral, cultural, and systems dimensions of leaders as stewards of vital resources within an organization.

A balanced, integrated approach assures that each dimension is understood and aligned for optimal impact and results. The best efforts of leaders are multiplied and reinforced when sourced from the core of the leader, modeled in their behaviors, embedded in the culture, and reinforced in the iterative systems of the organization.

BIO

Lloyd is a seasoned executive coach (Master Certified Coach, International Coach Federation), consultant, educator, and Principal of Integral Focus, with over 25 years of professional experience. He applies insights from the behavioral sciences, action learning, moral considerations, and integral development to help clients expand their individual and organizational awareness, capability, and performance within a global context. He supports leadership growth in self-awareness, attentiveness, and impact through dialogue, experiential learning, and collaboratively-designed practices that explore the breadth and depth of stewardship responsibilities.

Lloyd's clients include executives and teams in the private and public sectors. Private sector clients include E*Trade Bank, AOL, Acterna, Booz/Allen/Hamilton, comScore Networks, Conair, EDS, Hewlett-Packard, MCI, Marriott International, and US Airways.

Lloyd has also worked with a variety of public sector organizations, including AARP, International Food Policy Research Institute, American Public Health Association, AmeriCorps, Commerce Department, Department of Agriculture, Department of Education, Department of Health and Human Services, Department of the Interior, Federal Judicial Center, Fish & Wildlife Service, Peace Corps, and the National Peace Corps Association.

With curiosity and nonjudgment, LLoyd has helped people engage their best efforts to address needs and contribute value in the world. During his graduate studies, he grounded his domain knowledge through the study of justice. Soon after graduation, he was invited to teach courses on socio-economic justice to Washington, DC, police officers -- which thoroughly tested his abstract notions about justice in lively conversations with street savvy professionals. The outcomes of those experiences affirmed that dignity, respect, fairness, and justice were, indeed, the glue at the center of social relations locally and globally. And it confirmed, as well, that dialogue and conversation were powerful catalysts for developmental change.

Lloyd was Director of a non-profit organization working with juvenile offenders in Washington , DC, and then was invited to be Director of an undergraduate honors program focused on justice issues (ranging from interpersonal to international level issues). He was a founding faculty mentor in the Federal Judicial Center Leadership Program, mentoring five mid-level leaders for one year each. He is a founding faculty member of Georgetown University's Leadership Coaching Program, where he continues to teach. He spent over 10 years teaching innovative action learning courses related to justice and ethics at American University and University of Maryland University College. Prior to his professional focus on executive and leadership development, he coached lawyers, scientists, information systems experts, and engineers.

Lloyd is a member of the International Coach Federation, Coach University, and The Mankind Project. He is certified in The Leadership Circle, Cultural Transformation Tools (Richard Barrett), PeopleScan (Spiral Dynamics), Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, and Syntax Communication Modeling (NLP). He is an uncertified realistic optimist who enjoys writing, café conversations, his two artistic daughters, international travel, and the buzz of an enriched life with his wife and their energetic chocolate Lab. He earned an MS in The Administration of Justice at American University and a BA in Psychology at the University of Maryland (Baltimore County).
